ELIZABETH DIES

BET 06-1880 AND 1882 ELIZABETH DIED PLACE UNKNOWN. ACCORDING TO SUSIE, HER MOTHER WAS BURIED RIGHT INSIDE ARKANSAS. POSSIBLY NEAR BUENA VISTA. SHE WAS TAKEN THERE TO VISIT HER MOTHER'S GRAVE BY HER DAUGHTER TEDDIE AND SON BOYCE. THE EXACT PLACE IS NOT KNOW. ACCORDING TO LENA, SHE DIED AND WAS BURIED BY THE SHILO CHURCH AND CEMETERY NEAR POPLAR BLUFF, BUTLER CO., MO. THERE IS A SHILO CHURCH AND CEMETERY SEVERAL MILES FROM POPLAR BLUFF

FAMILY LORE FROM SUSIE'S FAMILY IS THAT ELIZABETH AND THE GIRLS WERE LIVING IN THE OZARKS. ONE DAY ELIZABETH WAS AT THE CREEK, DOING THE WASH, WHEN SHE GOT SICK AND DIED. THEIR UNCLE JOE WAS COMING, FROM UP NORTH, TO GET THEM WHEN HE HAD A HEART ATTACK ON THE TRAIN AND DIED. IF THIS IS HER BROTHER, I HAVE NOT LOCATED HIM IN ANY PREVIOUS OR SUBSEQUENT CENSUSES. IF THIS IS HER BROTHER AND SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY THAT WAS IN MACON COUNTY IN 1860 IS JOSEPH THE BROTHER THAT IS LISTED AS CUSHMAN? THIS JOSEPH WOULD BE THE SAME AGE AS WHAT CUSHMAN WOULD HAVE BEEN. WHETHER OR NOT THE UNCLE THAT WAS COMING TO GET THE GIRLS WAS A MEMBER OF THE MCCAMMON OR WARE FAMILY IS NOT KNOWN. AS YET, I HAVE NOT LOCATED ANY JOE OR JOSEPHS IN THE MCCAMMON FAMILY. IF SHE WAS DISOWNED BY HER FAMILY IT, TOO WOULD SEEM UNLIKELY THAT SHE WOULD HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH THEM, ANY MORE THAN THE MCCAMMONS. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT SHE MOVED TO WRIGHT COUNTY KNOWING SHE HAD FAMILY THERE? DID SHE AND HER BROTHER RECONNECT?

THE CEMETERY IN WHICH LENA STATED HER MOTHER WAS BURIED IS LOCATED IN THE NORTH WEST CORNER OF BUTLER COUNTY. I QUESTION THIS MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE COUNTY (SOUTHEAST CORNER OF MISSOURI) AND WHERE SHE WAS LIVING IN 1880 - WRIGHT COUNTY IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE STATE. IF SHE WAS TRYING TO MAKE IT TO TEXAS TO TAKE THE GIRLS TO MATHEW (I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE HIM IN TEXAS UNLESS HE WAS VISITING RELATIVES) THEN WHY WOULD SHE HAVE BEEN IN THE TOTAL OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF WHERE SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN HEADED. I KNOW OF NO REASONABLE EXPLAINATION OF WHY SHE WOULD HAVE GONE THAT POTION OF THE STATE. I WOULD ASSUME SHE WAS INDIGENT AND WAS IN APPARENTLY POOR HEALTH SO IT WOULD SEEM UNLIKELY SHE WOULD GO ELSEWHERE WITH TWO YOUNG GIRLS IN TOW. IF HE WERE STILL IN JACKSON CO. AND SHE WAS GOING THERE TO TAKE HIM THE GIRLS, BUTLER COUNTY WOULD STILL HAVE BEEN TOO FAR EAST.

IF ELIZABETH’S GRAVE WAS IN BENTON CO., AR, IT WOULD SEEM MORE LIKELY IF, AS THE STORY GOES THAT SHE WAS ON HER WAY TO TEXAS TO FIND MATHEW
